TOP 3 TIPS TO RELIEVE ANXIETY

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

hand on heart

Anxiety is no fun.

It robs you of the joy of the present moment - it sends you forwards into 'what might happen if...' Or, worse, back to the time when that thing happened... Ugh.

If you live with anxiety, worry, or stress on a regular basis, then you know what I'm talking about.

You struggle to make decisions in case you choose the wrong thing. You second-guess everything you say to people in case it's taken the wrong way. You can't relax around other people, because you worry about what they think of you - spoiler alert: they're probably doing the same thing.

You want to be carefree and light-hearted - but the effort of trying to be that way, when that's not how you really feel, ties you up in knots - and it's exhausting.

It's ok. You are most definitely not alone. Most of the people who come to see me feel this way - and they always leave feeling better. They feel lighter, calmer and more centred - carefree and light-hearted!

So let me share with you my absolute favourites.

Here are my top 3 tips to relieve anxiety:

1. MEDITATION

Ok, hang on.

Before you roll your eyes and scroll away - I know how hard it is to meditate when you have anxiety, believe me. I know that when you sit still, your mind goes into sabotaging overdrive. If it's really going for it, it can make you feel even worse than you did before.

So - you have to get smart.

  • Firstly, start small - try just five minutes and build it up slowly, say an extra 30 seconds each time.

  • Secondly, get some guided meditations.

Check out my library of guided meditations HERE

As a beginner, it's so much easier to be gently guided into a relaxed, meditative state, than it is to try and battle your thoughts and create it for yourself.

Meditating regularly has huge benefits: regulating the hormones, calming the autonomic nervous system, improving focus and even slowing the ageing process! Before you know it, you'll easily be able to get calm, slow your breathing and slip into a beautifully relaxed state whenever you want to.

Stick with it - a little and often is the key.

2. HELP SOMEONE

It is a little-known fact that doing someone else a little favour, even if very small, gives us a huge boost of feel-good hormones. When we help someone out, it increases our self-esteem and sense of usefulness and purpose.

Random acts of kindness do more than just help others out - they make you feel good too.

You don't have to do very much to get this happy boost, either! It might be something as simple as holding a door open for someone, letting someone go in front of you in a traffic queue, returning a found wallet or phone to its rightful owner. Any small gesture that is selfless creates a ripple of goodness that rolls right back to you and makes you feel fantastic.

If you want to get a serious dose of happiness, then you could consider volunteering. There are so many different ways to volunteer, you're bound to find something that appeals to you. Check out some ideas here.

it's an incredibly rewarding way to spend your time - and it shifts the focus off you and your thoughts in a way that brings real, genuine relief.

3. TRY HYPNOTIC HEALING

This is my absolute favourite way to relieve anxiety and stress - even heal it completely.

Over the last ten years I've seen some amazing results.

  • Clients who used to have panic attacks regularly find that they simply stopped.

  • People who struggled with getting to sleep, or staying asleep, find that they've broken that cycle and they now regularly get a really good night's sleep.

  • Clients who were plagued with unwanted thoughts find their minds are clearer and that they feel stronger, freer and more liberated than ever.

I love watching my clients recover and blossom - it's what drives me!

The powerful combination of Reiki healing and hypnotherapy means that together we can get to the bottom of how your anxiety affects you, what causes it and what situations are difficult for you. Then we supercharge your recovery with therapy and healing that creates deep and lasting positive changes.

The process is easy and incredibly relaxing - no chemicals and no side effects, just a lovely, relaxing sensation of profound peace and calm that stays with you long after the session has ended.

When you start to help yourself and take control of the way you feel, you kick-start your recovery in a very powerful way.

So there you have it! My top 3 simple and easy tips that you can do for yourself straight away to relieve your anxiety - which one will you try?

Let me know how you get on!

Big love,

Sophie X
