WHICH WOLF DO YOU FEED?

I haven't been eavesdropping, and I can't read your mind - BUT - I bet I can tell you what you've been thinking about most.


Look at your life - all the things you've got and haven't got; your biggest stresses and deepest joys - that's what you've been thinking about.


In other words, the people, things and situations that dominate your experience of life on a day-to-day basis - good or bad - that's where your focus is.


What you think about most, you get more of.


You may not like what's biggest in your world right now - difficult relationships, financial hardship, wobbly health. And if life is kicking your butt right now, I genuinely do feel for you. (Shakes angry fist at Mercury in retrograde.)


But you still get to choose what to focus on.


You may have heard the Cherokee parable about the battle between two wolves. It goes like this:


One evening, an elderly Cherokee man told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.


One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.


The other wolf is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’


The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked, ‘Grandpa, which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one that you feed.’


This story illustrates that whatever you give your focus to will win - it will increase - you'll get more of it. Energy flows where attention goes.


This is what some people refer to as the Law of Attraction. And it doesn't discriminate between wanted and unwanted - it simply delivers whatever you're thinking about most, or giving most of your emotional energy to - positive or negative.


For example; have you ever seen a cool car, or a gorgeous flower, or a particular shade of blue, that you thought was the BEST? And then for days afterwards - weeks, even - you keep seeing that car, flower, or shade of blue just EVERYWHERE?


Likewise, have you ever absolutely HATED a particular song with a passion, and then heard it playing on every station, in every shop, and everywhere you go, till you're ready to pull your own ears off?


This is the Law of Attraction at work - and it's not just about getting things - it's also about getting situations - or emotional states.


If you find yourself regularly pissed off, or often downbeat and depressed, then ask yourself: "Where's my attention?"


If you're often anxious (this is a big one) ask yourself: "What am I thinking about?"


Chances are, you're thinking about everything you DON'T want. You're freaking yourself out over worst-case scenarios. You're nurturing a hurt, until it becomes a wound.


You're creating your own little torture chamber in your mind - and suffering for longer than you need to.


You get to choose. You may need to choose several times a day, over and over - but you get to choose.
