WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN?

You know that thing you've wanted to do for ages, but you keep putting it off? Why do you think that's happening?
You know the thing I mean (there might be more than one thing.) It's the dream or goal gathering dust in the back of your mind, because you've mostly given up on it.
It's the habit you want to break, but can't seem to manage it. The book you want to write, but don't. The business you want to launch but won't. The relationship you want to quit, but haven't.
Something is holding you back.
What is it? What's the worst that could happen if you got your wish?
You might not know the answer - right now, the information is locked away in the dark of your subconscious mind.
Until now, you've probably been going around in circles, trying and failing, trying and failing, over and over. You've probably given yourself a really hard time about it, too, right?
Or maybe you've given up on it completely.

I want you to have the things you want - which means we need to unlock all that valuable, hidden information in the back of your mind.
You see, until you've come face-to-face with the real reason it's not happening (the one deep down in there), it's not going to change.
Those hidden fears will rule your life until you bring them out into the light and deal with them.
So let's play detective - try this journal exercise to get you started:
Write "What's the worst that could happen if I ___(insert desired outcome)?"
Then write down whatever comes out. Let's actually go there. No one is going to read this, so be as honest as you possibly can.
Don't worry - you're not going to make it come true by writing it down. It's just information, and all information is useful - even the gross stuff.
Maybe you come up with something like these:
You can't break your unhealthy habit, because you're afraid that life will be boring without it - or you won't be able to soothe your feelings without it.
You won't write your book, because you're afraid that no one will buy it - or you'll be judged harshly by critics.
You don't launch your business because you're afraid that you'll flop.
You can't quit that relationship because you're afraid you won't be ok on your own.
Notice a theme?
Those hidden fears are usually something like being judged or humiliated, failing or being rejected.
And underneath that, there's often another layer of even deeper fears, like losing everything. Or even dying.
These are our deepest fears - and they often aren't rational. But that doesn't matter - they're there, and they're keeping you from living your best life.
Ok good - you went there. Now what?
Most of your fears disappear simply by being exposed - how fabulous! And for the rest - now that you know what's holding you back, you can do something about it.
You can do some more journaling - try this: "What's the BEST that could happen?" And really go THERE, now - fill in all the wonderful, exciting, feel-good details of your goal-come-true.
You can enlist support from a coach or mentor to help you with your mental blocks. You can try EFT tapping to shift resistance, get some healing, or do some meditation.
You can reassure your logical mind with a solid escape plan, listen to a self-hypnosis recording, take a walk, or phone a friend who will lovingly laugh at you.
The point is, now you know. Knowledge is power. How you use it is up to you.
